Special Containment Procedures: SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 are to be contained in a standard anomalous animal containment unit. Under no circumstances should either anomaly be allowed any form of interaction unless permitted by personnel with level 4 or higher clearance.

During any interaction between SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2, any nearby researchers are to monitor the surrounding area for signs of potential threats. Nearby guards are to implement preventive measures in case of any serious threat to Foundation personnel or equipment.

As of the current moment, all staff assigned to SCP-8548 are required to report on any changes to the relationship between SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2, as well as help minimize any conflicts between either anomaly.

SCP-8548-1

SCP-8548-2

Description: SCP-8548 refers to a probabilistic anomaly that manifests when SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 interact with one another. Whenever both entities are placed directly in front of each other and begin to act aggressively towards one another, it causes several probabilistic errors to occur.

Any object or event within the radius of SCP-8548 will result in undesirable outcomes, such as some form of destruction or otherwise catastrophe.

Though the nature of SCP-8548 has caused several failures at Site-225, SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 are unable to be physically separated from one another. Any attempt to separate SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 for longer than 2 and a half hours will result in both anomalies causing SCP-8548 to occur within a 50 meter radius of where both anomalies are located.

SCP-8548 will not occur until several minutes of arguing between SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2, in which both anomalies lose their ability of speech and resort to the common noises of their respective species.

SCP-8548-1 refers to a sapient male black cat (Felis Catus) with the ability of speech. SCP-8548-1 has shown to be hostile to most staff members at Site-225 and is commonly described as having sarcastic and aggressive tendencies, as well as being generally antisocial.

SCP-8548-2 refers to a sapient male Golden Retriever (Canis Lupus Familiaris) with the ability of speech. SCP-8548-2 is commonly regarded as “playful and friendly” towards staff members at Site-225 and rarely exhibits any aggressive behavior except when it comes into contact with SCP-8548-1.

Both anomalies have described each other negatively and are resistant to any attempt to influence their relationship.

[BEGIN LOG]

Dr. Reschell: Hello there, SCP-8548-1. My name is Amelia Reschell and I’ll be-

SCP-8548-1: Fuck off.

Dr. Reschell blinks rapidly while remaining silent for a few moments before awkwardly laughing.

Dr. Reschell: I… uhh… okay? Already seeing the mentioned behavioral issues…

SCP-8548-1 doesn’t reply. It glares at Dr. Reschell as she pulls up a clipboard.

Dr. Reschell: …In any case, it says here you struggle with social settings. Is that correct?

SCP-8548-1: No. It's not my fault most people suck.

Dr. Reschell: Hmm… Well, that’s okay. It’ll just be the two of us in here regardless.

SCP-8548-1 is silent as it glances around the room before speaking.

SCP-8548-1: Hey… speaking of which, why am I here? You people kidnap me off the streets and now you’re trying to play nice? What’s up with that?

Dr. Reschell: Well, we can’t have anomalies just wandering the streets. Your anomalous capabilities are far too strong to ignore.

SCP-8548-1: Oh yeah? Like what?

Dr. Reschell: Ignoring the obvious, there's the fact that whenever you and SCP-8548-2 argue, disasters frequently occur.

Dr. Reschell: Which is why I’m here to help you with amending your relationship with SCP-8548-2.

SCP-8548-1: SCP-8548-2? Who the fuck is-

SCP-8548-1 looks confused for a moment before its face settles in realization.

SCP-8548-1: Oh, you mean that dumbass mutt?

Dr. Reschell: Yes, SCP-8548-2.

SCP-8548-1: We have names, you know.

Dr. Reschell: Of course, but it’s just standard policy to refer to anomalies with their designations to avoid any personal attachment.

SCP-8548-1’s eyes narrow on Dr. Reschell.

SCP-8548-1: Charming. Nice to know you care so much.

Dr. Reschell: I didn’t mean it like that.

SCP-8548-1: Uh-huh.

SCP-8548-1: Well, whatever, you might as well not bother. There’s nothing you can do that will ever make me like that guy.

Dr. Reschell: Well, I don’t think that’s true. We just need to get to the bottom of your hostility. Is there anything specific that you dislike about SCP-8548-2?

SCP-8548-1: …Everything.

Dr. Reschell adjusts her clipboard.

Dr. Reschell: I asked for something specific.

SCP-8548-1: Yeah, and that’s my answer. Everything.

Dr. Reschell does not respond for a few moments.

Dr. Reschell: Well, that’s alright. You don’t need to like SCP-8548-2, but you can at least stop engaging in arguments with him.

SCP-8548-1: That's not my fault. Maybe if he didn't do every single thing imaginable to piss me off, we'd be fine.

Dr. Reschell: Again, what are these things? If you can give us anything specific, we can certainly help manage any irritating behavior from SCP-8548-2.

SCP-8548-1: Well, if you must know… He follows me around all the time! Anytime I wanna be alone, he's always somewhere nearby.

SCP-8548-1: And then he yaps my ear off day after day after day about nonsense! Stupid shit that no one cares about.

SCP-8548-1: I swear, sometimes, he makes me wanna jump off a roof to escape him.

SCP-8548-1 goes silent once again, appearing lost in thought for a few moments.

SCP-8548-1: Hm, you did say you wanted to help me to get along with, uh… that mutt, right?

Dr. Reschell: Yes. Is there something you need? I'm more than happy to help.

SCP-8548-1: You can kill him.

Dr. Reschell blinks in surprise as she straightens her shoulders.

Dr. Reschell: …Uhh… No. Our mission here is not to destroy anomalies, besides very specific circumstances.

SCP-8548-1: Is he a specific circumstance?

Dr. Reschell: No.

SCP-8548-1: Damn it!

SCP-8548-1 hisses before looking up at Dr. Reschell.

SCP-8548-1: Well, I’m out of ideas. You guys are useless, I hope you know that.

SCP-8548-1 slouches in its chair.

SCP-8548-1: Can I leave now? This isn’t working.

Dr. Reschell appears more frustrated.

Dr. Reschell: No.

SCP-8548-1: Ugh!

Dr. Reschell: Look, I’m trying to help you.

SCP-8548-1: Oh yeah? Then let me leave instead of pestering me with dumb questions.

Dr. Reschell: Rude comments won't make this pass any faster.

SCP-8548-1: Whatever. All of this is stupid anyway.

Dr. Reschell appears lost in thought for a few moments before looking down at her watch.

SCP-8548-1: What?

Dr. Reschell: Oh. Just realized that our time is coming to an end.

SCP-8548-1: Thank fuck. Now I can get out of here-

Dr. Reschell: I believe I know what will help you.

SCP-8548-1 glances suspiciously at Dr. Reschell.

SCP-8548-1: Uh, what?

Dr. Reschell: You clearly have an issue with socialization, anger management and self-control, so I believe it would be best for us to transfer you with a different specialist who will be better suited to your needs.

SCP-8548-1 blinks in confusion.

SCP-8548-1: Wait, I thought this was the therapy session.

Dr. Reschell: Oh, no, this was simply an interview, or… a deeper evaluation. The real sessions will begin soon.

SCP-8548-1:

SCP-8548-1: Fuck.

Dr. Reschell: In any case, you're free to go for now. You'll continue this conversation with another specialist at a later date.

SCP-8548-1: Finally. Anything is better than spending anymore time here.

SCP-8548-1 hops out of the chair it was sitting in and heads towards the door and leaves Dr. Reschell’s office, who takes a breath after it leaves.

Dr. Reschell: God, I hate cats.

SCP-8548-1’s voice can be heard from outside her door.

SCP-8548-1: I heard that.

[END LOG]

COMMENTS: I believe that SCP-8548-1 is in desperate need of behavioral therapy from an Anomalous Animal Therapist to be able to better understand how to interact with SCP-8548-2 and any other anomalies or staff members. It should also learn how to manage its emotions and become more conflict-avoidant. Requesting the next available specialist to help SCP-8548-1 as I interview SCP-8548-2. - Dr. Amelia Reschell.

After this interview, SCP-8548-1 was given behavioral therapy from Anomalous Animal Therapist Bryan Ellison, which appeared to be largely ineffective in treating and helping SCP-8548-1 learn compassion and kindness.

After several weeks of attempted treatment, the procedure was discontinued.

The following is an excerpt of one of their sessions.

[BEGIN LOG]

Dr. Ellison: Okay, SCP-8548-1, after all of our meetings, I think I’ve discovered what your problem is.

SCP-8548-1: Oh, thank goodness. This is finally over.

Dr. Ellison: Yes, well, I believe your main issue is your… lack of willingness to be open with those around you. Being guarded will only signal to others how distant you are.

SCP-8548-1: Okay. And? Maybe I want to be left alone.

Dr. Ellison: There’s nothing wrong with being left alone. I’m just saying that, eventually, you’ll need to be able to interact with others. You’ll especially need to interact safely with SCP-8548-2.

SCP-8548-1 scoffs.

SCP-8548-1: Yeah, sure, and then once I do that, we’ll all hold hands and sing songs around the campfire, right?

Dr. Ellison: Your sarcasm is also a part of the issue. There’s really no need to always be so on edge. We’re here to help you, you know?

SCP-8548-1: You people still kidnapped me and are forcing me to take this stupid “therapy sessions” with you.

SCP-8548-1: I don’t get it. When are you guys gonna learn that this is stupid and there’s nothing you or anyone else in this entire building is gonna do or say that’s gonna make me get along with that idiot.

SCP-8548-1: He hates me and I hate him and that’s that. Nothing to be done about it.

Dr. Ellison: Well, yeah, it is possible but we’d be damned if we at least didn’t try.

Dr. Ellison: Besides, there must be something there. You and SCP-8548-2 have known each other for a long time, correct?

SCP-8548-1: So?

Dr. Ellison: And yet, throughout all of that time, you two have stuck by each other’s sides and never separated. I think there’s a bit more of an attachment there than you’d like to admit.

SCP-8548-1 does not reply for a few moments.

SCP-8548-1: Okay, well, I tried leaving his ass behind multiple times but he always follows me.

Dr. Ellison: And why do you think that is?

SCP-8548-1: Because this world sucks and it hates me.

Dr. Ellison writes in his clipboard.

Dr. Ellison: Funny, but I doubt it. Do you not think it’s much more likely he has some sort of attachment to you? I highly doubt you two feel nothing but animosity towards each other.

SCP-8548-1 glares at Dr. Ellison.

Dr. Ellison: Think about it with me for a moment. You have never found it odd that despite you two both claiming to hate each other, you’re still together?

SCP-8548-1: So what? What’s your point? That I secretly love him and care about him and my poor little heart can’t bear the thought of leaving him?

Dr. Ellison: Not precisely. I’m more suggesting that you have built up some sort of bond throughout the years. To have spent so much time together and not have formed any sort of attachment would be-

SCP-8548-1: Oh, I see what’s going on here.

Dr. Ellison blinks in confusion.

Dr. Ellison: You… do?

SCP-8548-1: Yeah, I think I get what you’re saying.

Dr. Ellison smiles as he flips through his clipboard.

Dr. Ellison: Excellent. Well, in that case, perhaps we can finally go through my suggestions for conflict-management and deescalation-

SCP-8548-1: You’re trying to gaslight me.

Dr. Ellison appears taken aback.

Dr. Ellison: I… what?

SCP-8548-1: Yeah, I bet you think you’re clever, huh? Trying to make me question reality. You almost me got me there too.

Dr. Ellison: Huh? What are you talking about?

SCP-8548-1: You’re trying to gaslight me into believing that I actually care about that idiot. Almost started to believe it for a moment too.

Dr. Ellison: That’s not what I was doing. I was just suggesting that maybe you two have formed some sort of bond but refuse to admit it due to-

SCP-8548-1: Yeah, yeah. I’m not falling for your lies anymore. Might as well give up. The jig is over.

Dr. Ellison takes a moment to collect himself before sighing.

Dr. Ellison: Okay, perhaps these sessions haven’t been as valuable to you as I hoped.

SCP-8548-1: So you finally admit that therapy is stupid and pointless? Took you a while.

Dr. Ellison: No. While these sessions may not have not been helpful to you, there are other options we can explore. We may have to… go to more drastic measures.

SCP-8548-1: Oh great. Now I gotta go through even more of this crap.

Dr. Ellison: This is for the better, I promise.

SCP-8548-1: Ugh, whatever…

SCP-8548-1 slouches in its chair as Dr. Ellison sighs.

Dr. Ellison: Well, I believe that this’ll be our last session. I thank you for your time, SCP-8548-1.

SCP-8548-1: Yeah, yeah, whatever. Can’t wait until you guys give up on this nonsense.

Dr. Ellison forces out a chuckle.

Dr. Ellison: Well, I suppose you’ll be waiting for a long time then. You’ll inevitably have to learn to get along with SCP-8548-2.

SCP-8548-1: Keep dreaming.

SCP-8548-1 leaves Dr. Ellison’s office. Dr. Ellison immediately sighs as soon as SCP-8548-1 leaves before grabbing his phone and sending the following text to Dr. Reschell.

My Love <3

Hey, honey? Gonna request the higher ups to cancel any future sessions with SCP-8548-1. Really hard to make a breakthrough. I know some anomalies are always gonna be harder to deal with than others but…

Yeah, I get it. But, you know, part of the job, right?

Guess so. Still, this is one of the more dangerous anomalies we have. I just hope we can fix this soon enough.

Don't be such a downer. We will get it done, m'kay? Just give it some time.

I guess. You know best after all.

Nice to know someone’s been paying attention. :)

Don’t push it..

Anyway, I guess I still have some work left to do.

Aww, can’t stay to talk a little longer?

Don’t act like you don’t got work to to do too. Remember your interview with SCP-8548-2?

Shit. You’re right. Shouldn’t be too bad though, seems a lot nicer than the cat.

Haha lucky you then.

Alright, I’ll leave you to it then. Love you <3

Love you too <3

Following this log, SCP-8548-2 was prepped for an interview with Dr. Reschell as Foundation staff began to hypothesize over various ways a healthy bond could be established between SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2.

Dr. Reschell: Hello there, SCP-8548-2. My name is Amelia Reschell and I’ll be-

SCP-8548-2: Ooo, new person! I love meeting new people!

SCP-8548-2 wags its tail happily. Dr. Reschell appears taken aback and chuckles awkwardly.

Dr. Reschell: Oh. You’re… excitable.

SCP-8548-2: Of course I am! New people are so interesting! I’m sure you’re a cool person with a lot of cool things to tell me, right?

Dr. Reschell: I, uh, I… suppose?

SCP-8548-2: Ooo! Tell me! Pretty please? Please! Please! Please! Please! Please-

Dr. Reschell: SCP-8548-2! P-Please! Calm down. I’ll answer whatever questions you have if you answer a few of mine.

SCP-8548-2: Oh, okay!

SCP-8548-2 sits down as it looks up at Dr. Reschell.

SCP-8548-2: Ask away!

Dr. Reschell: Do you know when your anomalous behavior first began?

SCP-8548-2 looks confused and whines.

SCP-8548-2: Anomalous… behavior? What’s that?

Dr. Reschell: Well… your ability of speech for one.

SCP-8548-2: Oh, that? I dunno… I've been able to speak for as long as I can remember!

Dr. Reschell: Does this apply to SCP-8548-1 as well?

SCP-8548-2: That guy? Uhhh, I think so… we've both been like this ever since we were super young!

Dr. Reschell: I see. Have you two always been together?

SCP-8548-2: Unfortunately…

Dr. Reschell: Do you know your parents? Or have you had any owners?

SCP-8548-2: Hmmm… no! I don't think so. We've… more like I've tried to have people but they always end up hurt or scared of us…

Dr. Reschell: Hmm… okay… and for my main question… why do you dislike SCP-8548-1 so much?

SCP-8548-2 looks off to the side and huffs.

SCP-8548-2: Oh… nothing… Just the fact that he should take a swan dive off of the nearest roof if you get what I mean.

Dr. Reschell stares at SCP-8548-2 in shock.

Dr. Reschell: …Oh… Okay… That's a… very dark desire.

SCP-8548-2: Sorry! I don’t like being mean but everyone always says you should be more open with your feelings and my feelings are that he should really go ahead and just die!

Dr. Reschell: I, uh, understand, but… why exactly? Is there a specific reason? Did something happen between you two?

SCP-8548-2: Hm. No, not really! I just really, really hate him and want him gone!

Dr. Reschell: Yes, you’ve said that. I want to know why.

SCP-8548-2: Just look at him!

Dr. Reschell: That’s not a reason.

SCP-8548-2: Of course it is! Look at how ugly he is!

Dr. Reschell: Are you suggesting that your dislike of him is based on his appearance?

SCP-8548-2 gasps and looks offended.

SCP-8548-2: What?! No! Of course not! Do I look like someone who judges others based on how they look?! I think everyone is beautiful!

Dr. Reschell: But you just said-

SCP-8548-2: Well, there’s always exceptions to the rules, right? He’s one of them!

SCP-8548-2: Gah! Just thinking about him is pissing me off! Grr!

SCP-8548-2 begins to growl as its tail wags.

SCP-8548-2: He makes me so mad that I could just… just… kill him!

SCP-8548-2 gasps.

SCP-8548-2: Can you guys kill him for me? Pretty please!

Dr. Reschell: Uh, no. We… don’t kill anomalies here.

SCP-8548-2: Aww, phooey!

SCP-8548-2 whines and slumps on the ground.

Dr. Reschell: Well, if we're gonna be having this conversation, I must ask, if you two hate each other so much, why haven't you attacked each other?

SCP-8548-2: I’m a pacifist! I don’t believe in violence! Everyone’s life is special and important and we should try our best to be kind and loving to each other!

Dr. Reschell: Uh-huh…

Dr. Reschell: And, for my final question, is there anything we can do that could potentially help you resolve your issues with SCP-8548-1?

SCP-8548-2: Kill him!

Dr. Reschell: …Anything besides that?

SCP-8548-2: Hmmm…

SCP-8548-2 looks lost in thought for a moment before shaking its head.

SCP-8548-2: Nope! Sorry! Can't think of anything!

Dr. Reschell: …Okay, we will, uh, take that into consideration…

SCP-8548-2: Yay, thank you!

SCP-8548-2 wags its tail happily as Dr. Reschell sighs.

[END LOG]

COMMENTS: While SCP-8548-2 displays a more positive and friendly demeanor compared to its counterpart, it appears to display the same level of hostility towards SCP-8548-1 as SCP-8548-1 does to it. Requesting further testing to attempt to establish a positive bond between both anomalies. - Dr. Reschell.

Following this log, several attempts were made to mend the relationship between SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2, all of which were deemed failures. The following below is a test log of all attempts made.

Addendum 8548.4: Test Log

Event Date

Event Description

Severity of Alteration

08/02/2020

SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 were both permitted to take a small walk together around the site, supervised by Dr. Reschell. Once in direct contact with each other, both entities immediately began acting hostile towards each other, causing a mild power surge in the west wing of Site-225.

Mild

10/24/2020

Both SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 were offered an upgrade in their containment units if they worked on attempting to improve their relationship. Both entities refused and instead requested for the other to be terminated. Once made aware of this information, both parties began to argue once again, resulting in Dr. Reschell spilling her coffee on herself and injuring her hand.

Mild

02/07/2021

SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 were put through several team-building exercises and puzzles to improve their bond and communication skills. Upon realizing that they would need to work together, both entities refused to cooperate and remained silent until SCP-8548-1 began to antagonize SCP-8548-2, resulting in a minor containment breach as all low-value anomalies’ chambers opened due to a magnetic failure.

Moderate

01/01/2021

Anomalous Animal Therapist Bryan Ellison was brought back for a joint therapist session between SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2. Despite his various attempts to foster a positive environment, both SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8930-2 ignored his presence and spent the entire session arguing with each other, resulting in several pieces of Foundation technology to overheat and explode.

Severe

10/11/2021

SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 were permitted contact with SCP-6366-1 and SCP-6366-2 respectively in an attempt to showcase SCP-6366-1 and SCP-6366-2’s friendship. Both SCP-6366-1 and SCP-6366-2 were instructed to showcase their friendship before speaking privately to SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2. Unfortunately, in their attempt to showcase off their bond, SCP-6366-1 and SCP-6366-2 began to engage in an argument, resulting in SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 to start arguing as well. In approximately seven minutes, all entities were engaged in a large dispute, resulting in a large-scale power surge that knocked out the power of the second sub level of Site-225 for 5 minutes.

Severe

11/29/2021

Both entities were locked into a joint containment center with a number of guards on standby as they were told that they were not going to be let out until they had resolved their issues. Neither entity spoke to each other nor did they respond when repeatedly questioned about their mutual disdain for the other party. After several hours, the experiment was discontinued until SCP-8548-1 gave a snarky remark about SCP-8548-2, which triggered it to attempt to attack SCP-8548-1. After which, both entities were separated as a nearby building spontaneously exploded.

Extremely Severe

The following log showcases the interaction between SCP-6366-1, SCP-6366-2, SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2.

SCP-6366-1 and SCP-6366-2 are brought into a joint containment chamber with SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 by Dr. Brackish. Several researchers observe them from the one way mirror as guards wait on standby.

Neither anomalous pairs make any attempt at communication until SCP-6366-1 bends over to whisper to SCP-6366-2.

SCP-6366-1: What are we supposed to be doing here again?

SCP-6366-2: Don’t you remember? We’re supposed to be helping these guys get along.

SCP-6366-1: Oh. Why?

SCP-6366-2: I dunno. Something about their arguments causing bad things to happen or something like that. All we gotta do is show them how to be friends.

SCP-6366-1: Ohh! Well, that’s easy enough.

SCP-6366-1 walks over to SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 and outstretches its wing and begins to wave it.

SCP-6366-1: Umm, hey there!

Neither SCP-8548-1 nor SCP-8548-2 reacts. SCP-6366-1 remains its position for a few more moments before it walks back to SCP-6366-2 and begins to whisper to it.

SCP-6366-1: Uhh, they're not doing anything.

SCP-6366-2: Yeah, I can tell.

SCP-6366-1: Okay, smart guy, what do I do?

SCP-6366-2 is silent.

SCP-6366-1: Well?!

SCP-6366-2: I dunno! This is awkward for me too!

SCP-6366-1: Oh my god…

SCP-6366-2: Don't "Oh my god" me!

SCP-8548-1 sighs before it begins speaking.

SCP-8548-1: Are you two done gossiping like two teenage girls? You do know we can hear you, right?

SCP-6366-1 jumps back in surprise upon hearing SCP-8548-1's voice, nearly stepping on SCP-6366-2, who moves out.

SCP-6366-1: Gah!

SCP-6366-2: Hey! What're you screaming for?

SCP-6366-1: You didn't tell me they could talk!

SCP-6366-2: I literally told you that they were arguing. What did you think I meant by that?

SCP-6366-1: In my defense, I forgot.

SCP-6366-2: You forgot?! I just-

SCP-6366-2 pauses and takes a deep breath.

SCP-6366-2: Okay, whatever, let's just… get this over with.

SCP-8548-1: Wow, already treating us like a problem, huh? Great first impression. Ten out of ten.

SCP-6366-1: Hey! No need to be rude! We're trying our best here.

SCP-8548-1: And this is your best? Jesus, that's sad.

SCP-6366-1 glares at SCP-8548-1 before SCP-6366-2 nudges SCP-6366-1.

SCP-6366-2: Stop glaring. We're supposed to be helping them, not fighting them.

SCP-6366-1: Well, maybe if that guy wasn't being such a jerk.

SCP-6366-2: Don't be a baby. If you can't deal with him, go try dealing with that one.

SCP-6366-2 points to SCP-8548-2.

SCP-6366-1: Fine by me.

SCP-6366-1 walks over to SCP-8548-2 as SCP-6366-2 makes its way to SCP-8548-1. As it does, SCP-8548-1 noticeably hisses.

SCP-8548-1: Great, what do you want?

SCP-6366-2: Look, cut me some slack. You wanna get this over with? Tell me what your problem is.

SCP-8548-1: Hmm. Okay, uhh… you. Are we done now?

SCP-6366-2: Being a jackass isn't very charming.

SCP-8548-1: As if I need your approval.

SCP-6366-2: Okay, look, I'm trying to be nice here. Let's just start over; my name is Arse-

SCP-8548-1: I don't care. Why are you telling me this?

SCP-6366-2: I'm just trying to establish a bond.

SCP-8548-1: As if I'd wanna be your friend. I don't need to know your name.

SCP-6366-2: Why're you being so difficult?

SCP-8548-1: You expect me to play nice after you finished gossiping with your boyfriend about me? Christ, you’re delusional.

SCP-6366-2 appears agitated.

SCP-6366-2: Okay. You’re clearly just an asshole.

SCP-8548-1: Took you long enough. Want a cookie?

SCP-6366-2: Oh, you think you’re so fucking cool, don’t you? Stop trying to act like you’re better than me.

SCP-8548-1: Don’t gotta try to do that.

SCP-6366-2 grows even more agitated, appearing as if it's about to speak before both anomalies get distracted by SCP-8548-2 and SCP-6366-1, with SCP-8548-2 excitedly circling around SCP-6366-1.

SCP-8548-2: Ooh! Another talking animal? I didn't know there were others.

SCP-6366-1: Uh, yeah, me too. For the longest time, I thought it was just me and Arsenio.

SCP-8548-2 tilts its head in confusion.

SCP-8548-2: Who's Arsenio?

SCP-6366-1 points to SCP-6366-2 with its wing.

SCP-6366-1: That guy hanging out with your friend!

SCP-8548-2: Oh! Nice! But… me and him aren't friends.

SCP-6366-1: Oh?

SCP-6366-1: Oh! Right! We're here to help you guys get along.

SCP-6366-1 pauses for a moment as it and SCP-8548-2 stare at each other.

SCP-6366-1: So, uh, what's the issue? Why don't you guys like each other?

SCP-8548-2: Because he's useless and should be buried six feet underground.

SCP-6366-1 takes a step back in surprise.

SCP-6366-1: Geez… talk about a switchup.

SCP-8548-2: What?! I'm not wrong!

SCP-6366-1: Still, he can't be that bad.

SCP-8548-2: You wouldn't say that if you actually spent time with him. It's his fault that we're here in the first place!

SCP-8548-2: I hate being cooped up inside! I’m a dog! I should be running around, barking at mailmen, chasing squirrels and trying to catch my own tail!

SCP-6366-1: That’s a bit stereotypical…

SCP-6366-1: And besides, being trapped here isn’t so bad… most of the time. Yeah, I miss the outdoors and all but at least the people here are nice!

SCP-8548-2: Yeah, I guess you're right! Well, it's nice to meet some new friends!

SCP-8548-2 gets up close to SCP-6366-1 with a smile. SCP-6366-1 backs up slightly.

SCP-8548-2: We are friends now, riiiight?

SCP-6366-1: Uhhh… yeah! Sure!

SCP-8548-2: Yay!

SCP-8548-2 wags its tail and stares at SCP-6366-1. SCP-6366-1 appears to get uncomfortable as it looks around.

SCP-6366-1: So, uh, like… what's your anomalous ability! I-Is it just like talking or…

SCP-8548-2: Oh, that? Well, every time me and… that guy… argue, we cause bad things happen!

SCP-6366-1: Like what?

SCP-8548-2: Explosions, power outrages, buildings collapsing… normal stuff like that!

SCP-6366-1: …Oh…

SCP-8548-2: And you?

SCP-6366-1: I, uhh… me and Arsenio have to be within three meters of each other every twenty-four hours or else we get pulled towards each other…

SCP-8548-2: Oh, geez! That sounds awful! I can't imagine what I'd do if I was stuck with that cat all the time! You must hate your life, huh?

SCP-6366-1 looks offended.

SCP-6366-1: H-Huh? No! It's not THAT bad. And besides, Arsenio is my best friend!

SCP-8548-2: Really? You guys were arguing though…

SCP-6366-1: That was not arguing. It was… playful banter between friends. We talk like that all the time.

SCP-8548-2: Didn't seem like that to me…

SCP-6366-1: Oh, what do you know? You don't even have friends!

SCP-8548-2: Hey! Didn't you say that we were friends?

SCP-6366-1: Not if you're gonna act like this and misunderstand the complicated and deep dynamic that me and Arsenio share!

SCP-6366-1: Isn't all you do argue anyway?

SCP-8548-2: No!

SCP-6366-1 starts to circle around SCP-8548-2.

SCP-6366-1: You know, if you want to stop bad things from happening, you can just… not argue with him! Why don't you try that for once?

SCP-8548-2: You don't get it! He's just… he's… argh! He's so annoying that I have to!

SCP-6366-1: Arsenio can be really annoying too sometimes but I don't always argue with him. This is all on you, isn't it?

SCP-8548-2: Nuh-uh!

SCP-6366-1: Yuh-huh!

Both anomalies glare at each other as Dr. Reschell looks over at Dr. Ellison.

Dr. Reschell: Perhaps we should end the experiment now…

Dr. Ellison: Looks like it.

Dr. Ellison gestures towards a guard in the room.

Dr. Ellison: Extract all four subjects from the room.

The guard walks over to the door leading to the containment chamber and attempts to open it, but it appears jammed.

Agent Jameson: Uhhh…

Dr. Reschell: What? Is something wrong?

Agent Jameson: The door's… stuck?

Dr. Reschell and Dr. Ellison look at each other for a moment.

Dr. Ellison: Ah, crap.

Dr. Ellison rushes over to help Agent Jameson with the door as Dr. Reschell looks through the one-way mirror.

As SCP-8548-2 and SCP-6366-1 glare at each other, SCP-8548-1 and SCP-6366-2 walk up to them.

SCP-6366-2: Axel! What the hell are you doing? We're supposed to be helping these guys learn to get along and you're having a pissing match?

SCP-6366-1: It's not my fault! This guy insulted our friendship!

SCP-6366-1 points to SCP-8548-2 with one of its wings.

SCP-6366-2: Wha-! Are you serious-

SCP-6366-1: Yep! Thankfully, I bravely defended our friendship and explained to him that we do actually like-!

SCP-6366-2: No, I mean, what is wrong with you?! Who cares about that! We came here to do one thing and you're messing it up!

SCP-6366-1: Me?! I was helping us!

SCP-6366-2: This isn't about us.

SCP-6366-1: Okay, well, let's not act like you weren't arguing with that cat!

SCP-6366-2: I- uhh… That's a whole different context!

SCP-6366-1: Oh yeah? How so?

SCP-6366-2: I… I, uhh…

SCP-6366-2 struggles to make a response.

SCP-6366-2: Why do I have to explain myself to you?!

SCP-6366-1: Excuses, excuses!

SCP-6366-1 crosses its wings and turns its head as it huffs.

SCP-6366-2: Oh my god, you always do this!

SCP-6366-1: Always do what, huh?

SCP-6366-2: Act like you're so high and mighty! You're so… annoying!

SCP-6366-1: I'm annoying! You're the one who-

SCP-6366-1 and SCP-6366-2 begin to argue with each other, talking over each other as SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 share a look at each other for a moment.

SCP-8548-1: Oh my god. You two suck at this, you know that?

Both anomalies stop arguing and glare at SCP-8548-1. SCP-6366-1 points at SCP-8548-1 with one of its wings.

SCP-6366-1: You shut your mouth! What do you know anyway?! Don't your argument tear open the fabric of reality?!

SCP-8548-1: I think that's a bit of an overstatement.

SCP-6366-1: IS IT?! IS IT REALLY?!

SCP-6366-2: Shut up, Axel! You’re not helping.

SCP-6366-1: Well, neither are you!

SCP-8548-1 turns to the one-way mirror.

SCP-8548-1: Can I leave now? I don’t think these two idiots are much help.

SCP-6366-1: Hey! Don’t blame us! Blame yourself and that dog over there!

SCP-8548-2: This is NOT my fault!

SCP-8548-1: Knowing you, it probably is.

SCP-8548-2 begins to growl as four anomalies begin to argue.

As this is happening, Dr. Reschell looks over the monitor in front of her with wide eyes before looking over at Dr. Ellison and Jameson.

Dr. Reschell: Uhh, Bryan-

Dr. Ellison: I’m trying! But I can’t get this door to…

Dr. Reschell looks over at the window as the lights blink rapidly.

SCP-8548-2: Well, you know what I think?

SCP-6366-1: What?!

SCP-8548-2: I think you guys all are-

Suddenly, all electricity cuts out, plunging the room in darkness. Dr. Ellison and Agent Jameson manage to open the door as all four anomalies stand in silence.

SCP-8548-1: I hate all of you.

After multiple failed attempts to get both anomalies to get along, the project was deemed a failure and was to be abandoned as researchers studied alternative ways to prevent SCP-8548 from occurring.

However, on 9/25/2021, Site-225 experienced a site-wide containment breach caused by SCP-6773. Several sections of SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2’s cells were destroyed, allowing for both anomalies to escape their cells.

SCP-8548-1 is seen walking out of a hole in its containment chamber as it surveys the surrounding damaged area. Debris and dust can be seen as it wanders around.

SCP-8548-1: Uhh… what? Hello? What’s happening?

SCP-8548-1 does not get a response.

SCP-8548-1: Okay then…

SCP-8548-1 continues to wander around the destroyed area at the same time as SCP-8548-2 does. The two anomalies walk around the area for a few minutes before coming into contact, upon which their demeanors both immediately shift.

SCP-8548-1: Goddamnit, of course you’re here.

SCP-8548-2: Well, hello to you too, jerk! What are you doing here?

SCP-8548-1: What does it look like I’m doing? I’m leaving this shithole. You stupid or something?

SCP-8548-1: Wait, don’t answer that. I already know.

SCP-8548-2 bares its teeth at SCP-8548-1.

SCP-8548-2: Ugh, whatever. I’m not even gonna entertain this.

SCP-8548-2: I’m leaving. I’m gonna go my own way and I’m gonna find some actual enjoyable people to hang out with!

SCP-8548-1: Fine by me. I hated every single second I had to be around you. I hope this is the last time I ever have to see you again.

SCP-8548-2: Me too!

SCP-8548-1 rolls its eyes as it turns its back to SCP-8548-2. It walks in a straight direction for a few moments until SCP-8548-2 starts to walk towards it, catching up to it and walking directly beside it.

SCP-8548-1: What are you doing? You do know that this is NOT us going our separate ways?

SCP-8548-2: Oh, right. I forget you don’t know because no one likes you enough to tell you anything, but I happen to know that this is the way out of here.

SCP-8548-1: Okay. In that case, then don’t you go on ahead and get out of here? Why are you even next to me?

SCP-8548-2: I am NOT next to you!

SCP-8548-1: You are literally walking beside me.

SCP-8548-1: Why are you so obsessed with me? God…

SCP-8548-2: I’m the one who’s obsessed? You never let me leave you, ever! Ever since I met you, you’re always somewhere close. If you hate me so much, why are you still here?

SCP-8548-1: It’s not my fault that everywhere I go, you’re also there. Don’t you think I’ve tried to leave your dumb ass as well? And yet, you always follow me.

SCP-8548-2: I don’t follow after you!

SCP-8548-1: You’re literally doing it right now. Not like a moron like you would notice.

SCP-8548-2: Oh yeah? You know what I think?

SCP-8548-1: Surprised you can think at all.

SCP-8548-2: Grr… I think you’re the one who always follows after me! You’re such a sadomasochistic weirdo that you can’t help but want to argue with me!

SCP-8548-1: Do I look like I enjoy your company? Someone’s full of himself.

SCP-8548-2: Okay then. Prove me wrong! Leave me right now!

SCP-8548-1: Why don’t you start? Lead by example.

SCP-8548-2: Oh, you’re just trying to worm your way out of it because you can’t! Because you’re a pathetic loser who’s obsessed with me and can’t leave me even if he tried.

SCP-8548-1 lets out a sarcastic laugh.

SCP-8548-1: That’s probably the stupidest shit I’ve ever heard you say. And I’ve been around you nearly every time you spoke.

SCP-8548-2: Whatever. Since I’m not gonna get through to you, let’s just get this over with and go our separate ways.

SCP-8548-1: Okay then.

Neither anomaly speaks to each other for a few minutes as they continue to walk together. Both take occasional glances at the other until SCP-8548-2 speaks up.

SCP-8548-2: Hey, what are you gonna do after you get out of here?

SCP-8548-1: Why do you care? It’s not like it’s gonna have anything to do with you.

SCP-8548-2: Just asking… so I can do the complete opposite thing!

SCP-8548-1 rolls its eyes.

SCP-8548-1: This is what I mean when I say that you don’t know when to be quiet. I was actually enjoying the peace and quiet until you had to open up your stupid mouth.

SCP-8548-2: Well, excuse me for having a wonderful voice. It’s not my fault you sound like you’re seconds away from dying.

SCP-8548-1: At least I don’t spew whatever nonsense pops up into my head. You can barely stay focused during a conversation.

SCP-8548-2: I can stay focused! It’s just that so many things are so exciting to me that I wanna focus on them all.

SCP-8548-1: Yeah? Well, you’re always focused on me, even as this place is going to shit. Wonder what that says about you.

SCP-8548-2: What exactly are you implying…

SCP-8548-1: Oh, yeah. I forgot you’re too stupid to understand subtlety. I don’t even know why I torture myself with spending time with you. Every time I’m with you, things always go to hell.

SCP-8548-2: Don’t you mean because of you? Because, last time I checked, every single bad thing that happened to us was because of you!

SCP-8548-1: Excuse me? Which one of us was the reason that ferris wheel fell apart?

SCP-8548-2: That was after you got that kid hit by a car!

SCP-8548-1: That was only because your dumb ass was too focused on the seals to notice what was happening!

SCP-8548-2: We only went to the zoo so you could calm down after we nearly drowned in that pond!

SCP-8548-1: We almost drowned because you didn’t know how to take no for an answer and chased that old lady for like an hour.

SCP-8548-2: We could have had a home there if you didn’t try mauling her!

SCP-8548-1: Well, maybe she should have learned where NOT to touch cats.

SCP-8548-2: God, I can’t believe you haven’t realized it yet! Every single bad thing that’s ever happened to me was because of you. You’re bad luck! Which makes sense since you’re a black cat…

SCP-8548-1: I’m gonna pretend you didn’t just say that.

SCP-8548-1: But, whatever. Just a bit longer until I never have to see you again.

SCP-8548-2: Great, that’s exactly what I want-

SCP-8548-2 is cut off by a rumbling throughout the site, causing both anomalies to struggle to stand as they try to keep their balance.

SCP-8548-2: W-Woah! What the-

SCP-8548-1: Aww, shit!

The rumbling continues as debris begins to fall from the ceiling, nearly landing on SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2, who both try their best to dodge the impact.

SCP-8548-2: Uh-oh… That’s no good!

SCP-8548-1: G-Gah! Fuck this! I’d rather be back in my cell!

SCP-8548-1 quickly turns around and starts to head back in the direction it came from.

SCP-8548-2: What? Hey! Where are you going? We’re supposed to be going our separate ways when we both get out of here!

SCP-8548-1 turns its head around to look at SCP-8548-2.

SCP-8548-1: What are you doing?! Stop following me! Why are you such a fucking moron? Can’t you just take a fucking hint and leave me alo-

SCP-8548-1 then proceeds to run face first into a wall, stunning it and knocking it down to the floor as more debris falls around it.

SCP-8548-1: Aww, fuck. Look at what you fucking did! Seriously, you’re a fucking stupid piece of sh-

Before SCP-8548-1 can finish its sentence, a piece of debris falls and is aimed to hit SCP-8548-1.

SCP-8548-2: LOOK OUT!

Just before the debris makes contact with SCP-8548-1, SCP-8548-2 jumps in the way, pushing SCP-8548-1 away as the debris falls and knocks them both away.

Neither anomalies move for a few moments until SCP-8548-1 groans awake as it appears disoriented. It looks over SCP-8548-2, who appears unresponsive. SCP-8548-1’s eyes widen as it rushes over to it.

SCP-8548-1: What the… The fuck did you do that for?! I didn’t need you to save me, you dumbass!

SCP-8548-1 appears to wait for a response, but SCP-8548-2 does not respond.

SCP-8548-1: What? Don’t tell me you died from something like that. I’ve seen you survive much scarier shit. I know you’re gonna get up any second now.

SCP-8548-2 does not respond.

SCP-8548-1: Oh, don’t tell me this is what kills you. Seriously? Jesus Christ, of course you die in such a pathetic way.

There is no response from SCP-8548-2. SCP-8548-1 does not attempt communication for a few moments as it stares at SCP-8548-2.

SCP-8548-1: Oh, you’re actually…

SCP-8548-1 is silent for a moment.

SCP-8548-1: …Pfft. Fine then. Actually, this is great! I’m finally rid of your annoying ass. Fuck you! I hope you’re eating shit in hell.

SCP-8548-1 turns around and starts to head towards the exit, occasionally turning back to look at SCP-8548-2 who still has not moved from its spot.

Just before turning to the next hallway, SCP-8548-1 sighs loudly before turning around quickly to run towards SCP-8548-2, noticing that it’s still breathing and biting it on its neck, slowly beginning to drag it away as it mutters something.

SCP-8548-1: You’re such a fucking moron and an asshole, you know that, Max? How dare you save me and then go ahead and almost die for me? I didn’t ask you to do that but like always, you never listen to me.

SCP-8548-1: You’re such a dick because I know you won’t die from this and yet you’re making me feel like you are anyway.

SCP-8548-1 continues to drag SCP-8548-2 across the ruined site as SCP-8548-2’s eyes begin to flutter.

SCP-8548-2: Her…schel?

SCP-8548-1: Shut up before I kill you myself.

SCP-8548-2 attempts vocalization but quickly closes its mouth as it fades back into unconsciousness. SCP-8548-1 continues to grumble as it drags SCP-8548-2 to safety.

SCP-8548-1: Knew it. Such an asshole. Trying to go out as a dumb hero. You can’t die yet.

SCP-8548-2 drags SCP-8548-1 into a nearby storage closet and shuts the door. SCP-8548-1 sighs as it watches SCP-8548-2’s breathing stabilize before curling up besides it.

SCP-8548-1 closes its eyes and lays besides SCP-8548-2 for several minutes until the breach has been contained and site personnel discover the two.

[END LOG]

After this incident, SCP-8548-2 was transported to a medical ward for treatment as SCP-8548-1 was relocated back to its containment chamber. Despite the severity of the containment breach, SCP-8548-2 was found to have suffered no significant injuries and was expected to make a full recovery.

VIDEO LOG

[BEGIN LOG]

SCP-8548-2 is seen laying in a standard anomalous animal bed with a bandage wrapped around its hind legs. A few moments pass before SCP-8548-1 and Dr. Reschell walk into the room.

Upon seeing SCP-8548-2’s recovery, SCP-8548-1 scoffs and rolls its eyes.

SCP-8548-1: Oh, look at that. I guess the universe wants to torture me a little bit longer.

SCP-8548-2: Haha, screw you too.

SCP-8548-1: Why couldn’t you have gotten crushed to death? Would have saved me a lot of trouble.

SCP-8548-2: Cry about it, loser. I’m not going anywhere!

SCP-8548-1 rolls its eyes again but appears to have what resembles a smirk on its face.

Dr. Reschell: Well, it’s nice to see you two are getting along.

SCP-8548-1: Are you stupid or something? As if I’d ever be nice to him. You morons should have euthanized his ass. He obviously couldn’t be saved.

SCP-8548-2: I had minor injuries! You don’t even know how euthanization works!

SCP-8548-1: Yeah? Well, who’s fault is it that you got injured, hm?

SCP-8548-2: Yours! If you had just watched where you were going, I wouldn’t have had to step in.

SCP-8548-1: So what? Are you expecting praise for doing dumb shit I never asked you to do? You can’t be stupid and self-centered. Pick one.

SCP-8548-2: You do both every day, so…

Dr. Reschell: If you two are done arguing, can I do what I came here to do?

SCP-8548-1: Which is… what? Killing him?

Dr. Reschell: Yet again, no.

Dr. Reschell turns to SCP-8548-2.

Dr. Reschell: I’m just here to check on your injuries. Is that okay with you?

SCP-8548-2: Ooo! Yeah! Of course. I’m pretty big and strong after all.

Dr. Reschell chuckles as SCP-8548-1 scoffs.

Dr. Reschell: That you are. Can I see your legs, please?

SCP-8548-2 gestures its hind legs towards Dr. Reschell, who proceeds to gently grab it and takes a few moments to observe it. After a few seconds have passed, Dr. Reschell sets its legs back down gently.

Dr. Reschell: Alright. Just a few minor injuries and a bit of bruising. You should be back to your feet in a few days.

SCP-8548-2: Yay!

SCP-8548-1: Damn, and here I was hoping you would tell him that he would drop dead in five minutes.

SCP-8548-2: Err, you’re lucky I can’t move right now or else you would be-

SCP-8548-1: Right, because a moron like you is just so scary. I’m quivering right now.

SCP-8548-2: You’ll eat those words once I-

Dr. Reschell: Ahem. As productive as this conversation obviously is, I didn’t bring you two together so you could engage in another argument.

SCP-8548-1: Oh, then why am I here? Other than to keep the collective IQ in this room from falling into the negatives?

Dr. Reschell: Well, I had watched the security review of the recent containment breach and I had noticed both of your actions seemed contradictory towards what you verbally expressed about each other.

SCP-8548-1 and SCP-8548-2 share a glance.

Dr. Reschell: SCP-8548-2, you went ahead and saved SCP-8548-1’s life despite the risk to your life. And SCP-8548-1, you protected SCP-8548-2 and stayed with it despite having the opportunity to attempt an escape.

Dr. Reschell: Is it perhaps possible that you two don’t truly harbor any actual disdain for each other?

SCP-8548-1 starts to laugh.

SCP-8548-1: Damn, doc, you can’t be that stupid. Of course I still hate him. But, the only thing I hate more than him is the idea of him dying for me.

SCP-8548-1: Speaking of which… Fuck you for that. How selfish do you have to be to think I’m gonna let you die on your terms of saving my life? And for what? So I feel guilty?

SCP-8548-2: No! I didn’t do it for you! I was gonna let it fall on you but then I’d realize that if I did, your ghost would haunt me forever and I’d rather avoid dealing with you for all of eternity.

SCP-8548-1: Oh my god. You’re… how many years old now and you still believe ghosts? And the idea that I would spend the rest of eternity haunting is so just… self-centered, which I guess makes sense for you.

SCP-8548-2: I should have left you to die!

SCP-8548-1: Yeah? Well, you always make stupid decisions so…

Dr. Reschell smiles slightly as she clears her throat.

Dr. Reschell: Okay, I believe I’ve seen enough. SCP-8548-2, we’ll be leaving here. Come on, SCP-8548-1, let’s get you back to your containment chamber.

SCP-8548-1: Ugh, don’t talk to me like I’m your pet.

SCP-8548-2: I don’t see the problem. She’s treating you the way you deserve to be treated; like a little brat who needs his mommy.

SCP-8548-1: …Your mom is a bitch, I hope you know that.

SCP-8548-2: Hey! My mom is not a… Oh, wait, you’re right.

SCP-8548-1: Ugh, I’m leaving.

SCP-8548-1 turns around and starts to head towards the doorway.

SCP-8548-2: Fine! Don’t come back!

SCP-8548-1: Wasn’t planning on it. Choke on your spit and die in your sleep, asshole.

SCP-8548-2: You first!

Dr. Reschell: Okay, well, I’ll be back to check on you later on. Goodbye, SCP-8548-2.

SCP-8548-2: Bye bye!

SCP-8548-2 wags it tail happily as Dr. Reschell and SCP-8548-1 exit the room. As they walk down the hallway, Dr. Reschell has a noticeable grin on her face, catching the attention of SCP-8548-1.

SCP-8548-1: The fuck got you so giddy?

Dr. Reschell: You two held a conversation for longer than five minutes and no disasters occurred.

SCP-8548-1: Oh, great. So our, uh, anomaly is over now? So can I leave?

Dr. Reschell: You two are still talking animals.

SCP-8548-1: Touché.

Dr. Reschell: Well, despite the unfortunate containment breach we experienced, I think this was a great bonding moment for you two. It appears your relationship has changed for the better.

SCP-8548-1 scoffs.

SCP-8548-1: Changed? Pfft. How dumb can you get? Nothing’s changed between us. I think you’re just making shit up when there’s nothing there.

SCP-8548-1 turns back to look at SCP-8548-2’s room before shaking its head.

SCP-8548-1: Yep. Nothing’s changed.
